ENTERPRISE BARGAINING

Better workplaces.
Better universities.

Australian universities are built on the passion and dedication of staff. We deliver world-class teaching and research, open doors for students, and enrich our communities.

But to do our best work, we need secure jobs, fair pay, and safe, respectful workplaces. Staff are being pushed harder than ever — insecure contracts, rising workloads, and uncertainty about the future are taking a toll. It doesn’t have to be this way. Better workplaces mean better universities.

That’s why NTEU members are campaigning in Round 9 of enterprise bargaining for real improvements that make universities stronger and fairer for everyone.

Our key goals

Fair pay rises that keep up with the cost of living

Strong workload protections

Stronger rights for union delegates and members

Secure jobs, with limits on insecure and fixed-term work

Improvements to reproductive health, gender affirmation and cultural leave

17% superannuation for casual staff

Safeguards around the use of artificial intelligence in universities

Collective action works

We know collective action works. In the last round of bargaining, staff won above-inflation pay increases, breakthroughs on job security, and stronger redundancy protections. None of it was handed over — it was won because staff stood together.

Round 9 is our chance to build on those gains. Together, we can make sure universities value the people who make them great.

Join us today — and help win better workplaces, better universities.
