THE UNION FOR PROFESSIONAL STAFF<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

We keep the place running.
We have each others' backs.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

Professional staff make up the majority of workers in Australia\u2019s higher education sector. From student support and finance to IT, libraries, research support, HR, marketing, security, laboratories, and frontline services \u2013 we do the work that makes universities function. Our roles are incredibly diverse, but we\u2019re united in one reality: universities can\u2019t run without us.<\/p>\n

Professional and academic staff may do different work, but we share a vision for what our universities should be \u2013 fair, respectful, inclusive, and public. We work together every day \u2013 and we organise together too.<\/p>\n

Yet too often, professional staff are treated as invisible or second-class. We\u2019re the first to be targeted in restructures, the last to be consulted, and frequently denied recognition for our contributions. That\u2019s why being in the union matters.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Fixed-term churn and casual contracts are endemic. The union fights to convert insecure roles into ongoing ones \u2013 and to ensure all workers have stable, decent jobs.<\/p><\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n <\/div><\/div>
