UTS staff taking strike action

National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) members at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) are on strike, rallying at UTS Tower from 9am.  

Why
NTEU members recently voted yes to taking protected industrial action and will stop work at 9am Wednesday 26th November for a half-day strike in response to University management’s lack of progress in enterprise bargaining negotiations. 

This action is taking place at the same time as UTS Council will be held on campus. It is the first protected industrial action for this round of bargaining at UTS.

Rally – 12:30pm

Who
NTEU UTS members, supporting staff and students  

Rally speakers will include: Uncle Ken Canning (activist, writer and poet), Dr Sarah Kaine (NSW Labor MLC), Vince Caughley (NTEU NSW Division Secretary), Damien Cahill (NTEU General Secretary), UTS Student Association representative and NTEU UTS staff.
