We are the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) branch at UNSW: the collective voice of university staff.<\/p>\n

Our members include academic, professional, technical staff in full-time, part-time, continuing, fixed-term and casual roles. We\u2019re the people who keep teaching, research, and student life running every day. Our branch is part of the NSW Division of our national union, but our focus here is local: standing up for secure jobs, fair workloads, safe workplaces, and a university that puts education and community before corporate priorities.<\/p>\n

Why you should be in the NTEU<\/h2>\n

We\u2019ve seen how management decisions made without transparency or genuine consultation can reshape entire faculties and divisions and undermine the work of hundreds of staff. Whether it\u2019s unwinding of the trimester calendar change, rushed restructures, relentless workload pressures, job insecurity, or governance failures.<\/p>\n

Being in the union means you\u2019re not facing these challenges alone. When we act together, we make a difference. It means having support when things go wrong, and real power when we stand together. Through collective action, we\u2019ve protected conditions, pushed back against unfair decisions, demanded accountability from the executive, and defended the integrity of our work.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re also building something better for the future: a university that reflects the values of its staff \u2014 fairness, respect, collaboration, and a commitment to high-quality education and research. UNSW has a stated commitment to put heart, hand and mind to bringing about change for good, and our branch stands together to uphold the university\u2019s mission and defend the staff who bring that mission into reality.<\/p>\n
