UTS staff will take four hours of strike action as NTEU members escalate our campaign for a stronger Enterprise Agreement and a better future for UTS.
After months of damaging decisions, job cuts, unsafe workloads, and a leadership crisis that has shaken confidence across the sector, staff are drawing a clear line. We deserve a workplace built on transparency, fairness, and respect – not secrecy, overwork, and uncertainty.
This strike is part of our push for real, enforceable improvements:
-
No forced redundancies
-
Workload protections
-
Staff voice and transparency on UTS Council and committees
-
A cultural safety plan co-designed with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
-
Protections against AI surveillance
-
10 days’ paid union leave for members
-
Improved change processes
We’re at a critical moment in the fight against job cuts. Bargaining allows us to turn that mobilisation into concrete wins — protections that secure jobs, improve workloads, and strengthen our rights for years to come. But it will take all of us to win the changes UTS desperately needs.
If you’re not yet a member, now is the time to join the NTEU. If you are a member, get active, stay connected, and help build the power we need to transform this university.
