Tell UNSW Management it’s time to get serious about negotiating a fair agreement
UNSW Management say they want to finish bargaining in 6 months’ time however are yet to meet any of our demands!
We need you at the NTEU meeting on Wednesday 1pm on Zoom to show Management this is not acceptable!
We’ve put forward a set of clauses to improve work life at UNSW, based on our survey of NTEU members. These include:
- Rights to dedicated workspaces – instead of unlimited hotdesking
- Rights to work from home and to flexible work
- Equal 17% superannuation and improved conversion processes for casual staff
- No job losses from artificial intelligence
- 15 days of reproductive leave
- Improvements to workplace change procedures and greater job security for all staff
Instead of a response to this, though, all management has come back with so far, is a suite of measures we say will make life harder for staff:
- For professional staff, Management want an increased span of hours across Monday to Sunday
- For academic staff, Management want a new category of teaching-only positions who would be excluded from the workload protections and workload appeal rights that all other permanent staff enjoy in our current agreement; and who would be denied promotions beyond level B
We need Management to get serious about negotiating a fair agreement – one that recognises the hard work of staff and builds a better UNSW. We don’t need more claims that degrade our rights and stall bargaining.
We can’t do it without you
Here is where you come in:
- Come to the members meeting, 1pm Wednesday 14 October, on Zoom: register here.
- If you’ve got 30–60 minutes, sign up for postering and leafleting on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week: sign-up sheet.
- If you’ve any spare time at all: help us call other union members to get the word out. Email Kaylene ([email protected]) if you’re interested and she’ll help set you up!
Thanks for your ongoing support, and see you on Wednesday (14/10) at 1pm!
